June 2009’s Final Post

June 30, 2009

So this is the last day of June, and this is June’s last post. I’ve managed to pull off a post per day just like I planned to do and I’m happy with myself for meeting that goal. Don’t expect me to do the same for July but don’t think I’m going to quit posting! I certainly plan to keep the posts coming, and I really do hope you enjoyed June’s daily posts.

Don’t you love meeting personal goals?

It has been a weird month. It doesn’t feel like June stayed very long, did it? There were plenty of crazy events to mark the month! Though on a personal level, I have to admit that I come out of June disappointed because I still haven’t landed a job. It seems that I have some good leads but nothing definite yet.

It’ll be July here in the Eastern time zone in just over an hour, and the month already looks busy. Three birthdays in my family, the fourth of July, and more excitement I’m sure. Oh, you know those three birthdays I mentioned? One of them is mine. Gasp! What do I want? A good paying job!

Where does the time go?

June 2009: Celebrity Slasher

June 29, 2009

There has been much talk of the deaths of several celebrities this month. Nice things, mean things, funny things, and a mix of the three have been said for each one that has passed.

While the rest of the celebrity world is in a panic and asking themselves "Osnap am I next?!" I would like to remind you that, unfortunately, death is a part of life. Our entire lives lead to this one moment in which we are all the same.

Major world events have been happening and the news only seems to want to cover the deaths of celebrities. How horrible it would be to lose some ratings and take some time to cover the major news. If Michael Jackson had died on 9/11/2001, I have to wonder if anybody would even know what else happened that day.

FACT: Celebrities are people too, and no matter how much we like them they will not live forever. KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

With that being said, I really wonder how many conspiracy theorists are going nuts over this…

One Last Goodbye

June 28, 2009

On Saturday (6/27) with lots of driving and going back and forth and details I don’t care to recap right now, we said one last goodbye to our ratties. Gadget, Atari, and Binary all went to their new home. I drove an hour to meet their new owner half-way, and we were emailed later that night to be told they were doing great in bigger cages with new cage mates.

Gadget had been alone in his cage since 8-Bit died, and we couldn’t give him enough time to make up for not having a cage mate. All three of the ratties deserve a home where they can get more attention, bigger homes, etc. and that’s exactly what they got. We sent them off to live better lives, and we did it out of love for them.

Here are some pictures from Saturday:

Gadget:

Atari (black fur) Binary (brown fur):

We saw you born and we watched you grow. We love you and we miss you. We want you to live happy and healthy in your new home! Be as amazing for them as you were for us.

Humor Rant – Chat Speak

June 27, 2009

WARNING: HUMOR RANT AHEAD. Exaggerated, pessimistic, and possibly offensive content ahead. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. MUAHAHAHAHAH.

Okay, so maybe I’m a bit late to rant about this. This has been an irritating thing for years, right? I’m sick of getting "customer service" IN CHAT SPEAK.

When I’m talking to a representative of a company, business, or whatever online and I’m looking to get some customer service, I don’t care HOW BIG or small your company is, DO NOT CHAT TO ME LIKE A 14 YEAR OLD GIRL ON A CELL PHONE WOULD.

"HOW R U 2DAY" is not the proper way to greet your customers.

You know, your brain doesn’t think in chat speak. If for some strange reason you think it does, you need help on a professional level! You have to put effort into typing like an idiot. You went to school! You know how to spell! You are putting effort into this and it pisses me off. It doesn’t make your customer feel more welcome or more comfortable with you, no matter what your silly two day training course on "Making your customer feel at home" may have told you; it makes you look like an idiot in front of your customer.

I don’t even like chat speak in a personal conversation! I use chat speak in a way to mock it sometimes, but not even that in a professional conversation. COME ON.

It isn’t like I contacted YOU with chat speak. No, I wrote out a well thought out message about something and you replied with chat speak. I can’t even call it lazy because, like I said, you had to put effort into it.

Also, what’s the big deal with REMOVING A SINGLE LETTER from a word for chat speak? IT IS ONE KEYSTROKE. YOU LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT.

Insanity Today

June 26, 2009

I really do have plenty to write about! I do! Today was crazy. Today was crazy in ways that I just can’t put into words right now. Good things, bad things, really bad things, and things that make no sense.

There was a car wreck, some ER fun, GREAT burgers that I grilled LIKE A BOSS, and more! Maybe a post for a day to come, or maybe you should beg Aithyne for an update. Wait and see; it’s more fun to make you wait! Please note that the ER fun and the burger grilling had nothing to do with each other.

Moving on from that, why do I feel like the following could include an insurance commercial?

Nature Dad Strikes Again!

June 25, 2009

I can give you a general idea of what these guys are, but they sure won’t have scientific names.

Still though, I love the pictures and I do have fun taking them. Are you sick of pictures yet? I’m not!

One of "Those" Posts

June 23, 2009

I don’t have a clue what to write, so I’m just going to babble. Does that work for you? It sure does for me.

I’ve thought about it a lot today and I just couldn’t settle on a topic. Don’t know why really… maybe the thoughts were too scattered. Maybe not. I sure did feel like yesterday’s post was lame, but I liked it at the same time. I’m weird like that, but if you’ve been here before you already know that.

I like the challenge I gave to myself to write every day this month. Sometimes I write early, sometimes I end up not writing until 11 PM, like today. I’ve forced myself to stick with it, and I’m thrilled to have done so.

Things have been exciting, crazy, fun, and a mix of the three. Still no job interviews, though I did have an email from Verizon Wireless informing me that I am unqualified to work for them. Funny how they have idiots that don’t know the difference between an SD card and a Micro SD card working in Technical Support but I’m the one unqualified. I could REALLY rant on and on about that one but I won’t. Why not? I already did that, but I’m too lazy to link it right now. I’m more qualified to work for them in sales, customer support, and technical support than anybody I’ve spoken with actually working in those positions is. Gah! Moving on…

I did receive a phone call informing me that I stole the man’s phone. I’m fairly certain he was drunk, but I got called all sorts of nasty things for supposedly stealing his phone. I informed him that he had the wrong number and hung up. It was a local number, so when I saw him beeping in I got excited thinking it was a possible job interview – I’m going to say that was a fail. No, I did not steal his phone. >.>

I really want to write some new Humor Rants.

The Blogger

June 22, 2009

The blogger is a mysterious creature. Perhaps the blogger is an artist, and the blank post before the blogger is an easel. The creature strokes the keys across the easel painting a beautiful work of art to publish for the world to see. This creature appears in many forms; sometimes the blogger is a man, sometimes a woman… many races, nationalities, beliefs, and so much more. This creature will sometimes paint for money, for fun, for himself alone, for popularity, or perhaps for no reason that can be understood by any but the creature.

No matter the reason, the blogger pulls up a blank page and begins creating something beautiful, even if only the blogger sees it as so. The blogger struggles with many battles to continue creating such art, and in the end some may give up, and some may lose the battles, but the blogger lives on. The blogger has a strange mindset and is always thinking of new things to create! New life to bring forth! Old life to retell for others!

Blogger, what will you paint before us this day? Will you bring forth a smile? Strike laughter into the hearts of many? Inspire the masses? Your post may only reach one, but it may be the right one. Will you use your abilities for good or evil? Will you write for personal gain or will you write for the sake of your reader?

WITH GREAT POWER COMES GREAT RESPONSIBILITY or something like that.

Father’s Day

June 21, 2009

There are too many directions that I could go with a Father’s Day post. I’ve struggled with most of them today, but I think that this is the best one for me.

Today my wife has put effort into making sure I’ve relaxed and just enjoyed myself. It’s been a special day and I hope she knows how amazing she is. These two sure do know how to make my life wonderful! I love being Noah’s father and knowing that he loves me. I love being married to this amazing woman and knowing she’s always there by my side.

Now, getting beyond the selfish "me me me" bit of the post… ;-)

Happy Father’s Day to my dad! I hope it was a good one! I’m glad we got to celebrate it together, though a day early. Nothing like celebrating Father’s Day doing yard work together, right?

To all of the other dads out there, Happy Father’s Day to you too!
