Spud Comics

July 5, 2009

If you’ve been here before you probably know that I’m a big fan of webcomics. I’ve been reading them for years and over time many have come and gone, some better than others. Spud Comics is definitely one of the better ones out there! It’s not one of those webcomics that are more like reading a novel; Spud Comics throws one hilarious panel at you (seriously, he throws it at you – I’m still healing from Friday’s update) to start your day off right.

The man behind the spud (or is it the spud behind the man) is Lonnie Easterling, and he’s a great guy. I’ve stalked followed him on twitter and he actually takes the time to not only reply to you, but actually have conversations with you. How great is that? And to top it off for all of you facebook users out there, he has a great facebook group and it really needs you to get in and get active! So join NOW.

So check it out, read back on his archives and see how great this comic really is. Make sure to toss it into your RSS reader so you never miss an update!

See you on the facebook group!

Breaking the First Two Rules

June 4, 2009

The first rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club.

The second rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club.

So let’s talk about Fight Club.

I watched the DVD the first time with Lynn a while ago after a friend recommended it. The first reaction was something along the lines of "um, what did we just watch?"

After a while we ended up owning it, watching it a few more times, and even watching it with the commentary turned on. That’s how much we like the movie.

I heard good things about the book, and after watching the movie so many times I really wanted to read the book for myself. I’ve been watching for a good deal on the book for a bit and finally came across a used copy on Amazon that I was satisfied with (condition does matter). I got the book in the mail yesterday and today I’ve spent a good portion of the day today reading it.

I’m thrilled with it! I haven’t been able to sit down and enjoy a good book in a while, and I love the way Chuck Palahniuk writes.

So this post isn’t exactly about Fight Club in the way that one may go in and describe or review the story and share their opinions. What is it about? It’s more like… Fight Club is awesome. That is all.

Plants Vs Zombies – Things I’ve Learned

May 5, 2009

Today was the official release date for Plants Vs Zombies. With that, I’ve been playing quite a bit today. Here are some things that PopCap has taught me so far:

  • Sunflowers poop sunshine.
  • Wearing an orange safety cone on my head will give me extra protection against physical attacks.
  • When zombies attack in a large group you will receive a big warning letting you know that "A HUGE WAVE OF ZOMBIES IS APPROACHING" – Somebody needs to teach the zombies in other games some manners like this.
  • Zombies are capable of writing incredibly well.
  • Always trust Crazy Dave and buy the things you need to fight off zombies from the back of his car. It’s cool; he’s legit. Crap, is that a cop over there? Oh well, remember: ACT NOW he’s CRRRRRAAAZZY and "All twiddlydinkies are priced to move."
  • Screen doors aren’t as flimsy as they look to the naked eye, and can help fend off physical attacks for an extended period of time.
  • Walnuts make for amazing bowling balls. Remember, the best way to bowl with zombies is to bowl with zombies.
  • Some zombies desire brains but also have amazing dance moves. Work those moves, you undead superstar.

I’m sure there are some more things I could add but that’s all for now. =P

PopCap did a great job with Plants Vs Zombies and if you’re looking to toss some money out on a game, I suggest this one. You can grab it from PopCap for $20 or get it for $10 on Steam. Back to getting my "legal" merch from Crazy Dave.

PopCap Zombie Fun!

April 24, 2009

PopCap has a new game coming out called Plants Vs. Zombies. You can go to their promo page to make a free Zombie Avatar (Zombatar). I made mine and thought I’d share it.

Why don’t you make one of your own and comment to show me yours? Or not. Mine’s pretty awesome. It’s up to you. =P

Currently Watching (TV) 2/26

February 25, 2009

Here’s a list of the “TV” shows we’re currently watching. (We actually watch everything on Hulu, Netflix’s Watch Instantly, DVD, etc.)

Hell’s Kitchen

We watched the fourth season from start to finish on Hulu, and now we’re watching the fifth season as it becomes available. We saw episodes 1 – 3 last night.

Kitchen Nightmares

Waiting for new episodes. The last one we saw was Cafe 36 (season 1 episode 22)

Legend of the Seeker

We just watched Home (season 1 episode 12).

Family Guy

The next episode is supposed to be out March 8! The most recent one was hilarious (Ocean’s Three and a Half).

American Dad

New episode coming on March 1!

Doctor Who

David Tennant is my favorite Doctor. Seriously. We watched all the way through the new Doctor Who, and we’ve started over as we watch it again with my sister. Love it!

Red Dwarf

They made it available on Netflix’s Watch Instantly! So we’ve been re-watching Red Dwarf. They’re actually filming new episodes of Red Dwarf RIGHT NOW.

Torchwood

We actually just recently finished watching what is available for Torchwood.
