I posted a while back on Rejaw (see the original post). Unfortunately I just learned that the site is shutting down. This is what they have to say:
We’re sad to announce that Rejaw will be shutting down on May 31, 2009.
It’s been great pleasure that so many wonderful people have joined and gotten to know each other here at Rejaw. We want to give our wholehearted thanks to everyone who gave us compliments, suggestions, and criticism- Rejaw couldn’t have existed without your feedback.
Rejaw has stopped accepting new sign-ups effective immediately. From now until May 15th, you can continue to send new shouts, whispers, and replies, as well as request export of your private user data at http://rejaw.com/account/export
On May 16th, an email with export data download instructions will be sent to users who requested it, and you will have until May 31st to download your exported data.
Again, thank you everyone, for being part of the Rejaw community.
The Rejaw Team
Sad to see Rejaw go, but I’ll still be around on other sites. I have a list of my active sites on my Contact Me page, and I’ve updated it to remove Rejaw. I got in on FriendFeed a little while back but so far all it does is update when I post here. Gotta love that. Be sure to check out the sites I use and add me on any of them. If you’d like to see me active on a site I’m not currently on, you can always give me a nudge in that direction too.
I enjoy using Twitter and the more people that follow me (I follow back! hint hint), the more I tend to enjoy posting because I feel like people are reading my posts. I love the interaction and meeting new people.
So one day I’m minding my own business and I get a direct message there from @kellyvbrown telling me about Rejaw. I check it out, then she recommends several people to follow and now I’m a part of yet another website. =P
It’s a lot of fun – there are a lot of differences between Rejaw and Twitter, and I’m not going to try to cover them all. I don’t think either site is better than the other, but if you’re looking for another site to have fun meeting and interacting with people on, check out Rejaw. Whatever site(s) you’re on, you’re doing it wrong if you don’t interact with me. ;-)
Here are a few things I like about Rejaw:
Rejaw has a 1000 character limit.
Updates are live: if somebody updates on Rejaw then you get the update immediately. No refreshing the page!
You can have active conversations between multiple users all in one place. This page is the perfect example!
There are also a few nifty apps you can use! I’ve been using JawJack (still in beta), but there are others if JawJack isn’t for you.
So I’ve looked into these a little in the past but didn’t bother much with it. I know that I have a widget to add my “Delicious” (http://delicious.com/) links into my blog here, but there are other options out there such as StumbleUpon, etc. — What do you use/recommend? I’d love to have my bookmarks online for access elsewhere, as well as share with all of the people on the internet that don’t care. ;-)
